A Premier Line of Decorative Wood and Metal Components

Designs of Distinction® creates thoughtfully designed decorative components for kitchens, baths, furniture, and the home. From furniture legs and posts to metal accents and architectural details, the collection offers designers and craftsmen the building blocks to create spaces that feel custom, intentional, and beautifully finished.

What began as a small supplier of furniture parts has grown into a trusted partner for some of the largest brands in the industry—developing innovative products for cabinetry and home décor while continuing to draw inspiration from customers and the design community.

Driven by People, Passion, and Service

At Designs of Distinction® by Brown Wood, Inc., the company’s greatest strength is its people. Led by President Terry Gross and Vice President and Brand Founder Kathy Constantine, the close-knit team is built on a culture of outstanding service, uncompromising quality, and deep respect for the brand.

Every team member shares a commitment to going above and beyond—understanding that these products often become part of kitchens and living spaces that serve as the heart of the home.

Creativity That Solves Real Design Challenges

Creativity is not just encouraged at Designs of Distinction®—it is expected. From developing innovative new components to adapting to unique project needs, the team thrives on creative problem-solving and flexibility that larger organizations often can’t match.

A Heritage Rooted in Craftsmanship

The story of Designs of Distinction® begins in 1927, when entrepreneur George Brown founded Brown Wood to meet the growing demand for quality wood products in the Midwest. Over the decades, the company expanded into diverse markets, supplying precision-crafted components across industries.

In 1998, that deep manufacturing expertise gave rise to Designs of Distinction®, bringing a legacy of craftsmanship into the world of interior design and decorative architectural components.

Built on Innovation and Imagination

Designs of Distinction® was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to innovate and deliver what others had not yet imagined. That philosophy continues to guide the brand today—resulting in decorative components that push boundaries, solve design challenges, and help bring creative visions to life.

Decorative Components That Make a Difference

With a commitment to craftsmanship, service, and forward-thinking design, Designs of Distinction® continues to support designers, builders, and homeowners with products that elevate cabinetry, furniture, and interiors through thoughtful detail and inspired design.
